As an inducement to relocating and existing industries, Saline provides the broadest range of industrial financing options available anywhere. This includes tax abatement, SBA 503 and 7A incentives, a revolving loan fund, as well as direct financial incentives for projects that do not qualify for tax abatements. A variety of state and federal grant, loan, bonding and job training programs are also available.
Property tax abatement: Saline has a long history of granting tax abatement to manufacturing industries that expand or renovate an existing plant, build a new facility, or promote the establishment of research and development laboratories. The maximum abatement allowable by Michigan law (P.A.198) is 50% of the property tax for up to 12 years. All applications from property owners are evaluated on an individual project basis. Property eligible for tax abatement includes the building itself, equipment, machinery, furniture and fixtures. The abatement applies to the depreciated value of property as reported annually.
