Saline District Library is on the move!
In order to facilitate our upcoming expansion, the library will relocate to Liberty School (formerly Saline Middle School) at 7265 Saline Ann Arbor Road for the duration of the construction project. To give us time to move and re-organize our 90,000 library items and other equipment, the Library will be closed for a two-week period beginning May 12, re-opening for business at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29.
We will be fitting 16,000 square feet of library into approximately 9,000 square feet of school, so it will be a tight fit, but we hope to provide access to all of our materials and computers. We will not, however, be able to provide public meeting room space in our temporary location.
With a couple of minor scheduling changes, the Friends of the Library book sales will continue as usual. The April 28 sale will be held in our present location at 555 N. Maple Rd. There will be no book sale in May, but there will be a special two-day sale in our new location on Saturday and Sunday, June 9 and 10. The regular schedule (last Saturday of the month) will resume on July 28. Donations will be accepted during normal library hours through May 11 at our current location and after May 29 at Liberty School.
Please join us for a special summer reading kick-off event on Sunday, June 10th (1-5). Sign up for summer reading for all ages, enjoy a concert by Mustard’s Retreat, tour the new space, buy some donated books from the Friends, bring a non-perishable food item for our annual food drive for Saline Area Social Services, and enjoy a great afternoon.
We anticipate spending approximately 10 months in our temporary location, returning to a beautiful, expanded library in the spring of 2008. For updates on our project, please visit the website (http://www.saline.lib.mi.us) or stop by and check us out at Liberty!
