PASSPORT SERVICES
The City of Saline provides Passport Services as an agent of the U.S. Department of State, Chicago Passport Agency. As a Passport Acceptance Agent the City of Saline will accept applications for passport books and passport cards and administer oaths in connection therewith.
Passport Service Hours are Monday thru Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Saline Municipal Building (City Hall), 100 N. Harris Street, Saline, MI. (Hours are subject to change according to staff availability). An appointment is not needed unless you cannot make application during the regular passport service hours. If you are applying for a passport for the first time, you need to submit acceptable identification, proof of U.S. citizenship, two identical photographs, application and execution fees. Forms of identification include a valid driver’s license, naturalization or citizenship certificate or a military ID card. Acceptable documents to prove citizenship include a previous U.S. passport, certified birth certificate (birth certificate with raised seal - hospital certificates are not acceptable), naturalization or citizenship certificate and a report of birth abroad. The photographs must be head shots, two inches by two inches with a white or light background. The City of Saline provides photograph services, cost is $12.
Passport fees for applicants age 16 and over is $75. For applicants 15 & under the fee is $60. Passport fees are payable by check to the U.S. Department of State. There is also an execution fee of $25 for each application, payable by cash or check to the City of Saline. If expedited service is needed, there is an additional $60 fee per application. The expedite fee does NOT include overnight delivery. If overnight service is needed, Express Mail service can be obtained at Saline City Hall. Expedite service will ensure receipt of your passport within three weeks.
Routine service is now taking up to six weeks to receive your passport.
U.S. Passport Applications for children under 16 requires both parents’ signatures at the time of application. If the second parent is not available to sign the application, a notarized document is acceptable, Form DS-3053. After an application has been submitted for a passport, all status inquiries should be made to the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-487-2778 or at www.travel.state.gov. The City does NOT issue Passports, we are an application acceptance agency. Status of a passport application is NOT available at Saline City Hall.
