On Line Assessment and Tax Information
The City of Saline offers on-line assessment and tax data. Tax
information is updated daily while assessment information is updated weekly.
Some special assessments, such as water billing, lawn care or snow removal
charges, may not be reflected in the tax statements. Current year tax
payments will only show payments at the time of update. Assessment data,
such as changes in the Principal Residence Exemption, value, owner and sale
data, may not be current. Lot dimensions on an individual property may not
be indicated if the parcel is somewhat irregular in size (indicated by the
numeral “9”). Industrial properties with an Industrial Facility Tax
Exemption certificate may have additional value on other parcels. If you

Sound good? The City offers on-line payment options. You can set your bill
up for payment out of your checking or savings account the day you recieve
it and not have the money come out of your account until the due date. Set
it up and forget about it. A service fee will be assessed for each
payment. You will be notified of the amount before completing the
transaction.

City Hall
accepts payments at the new municipal building located at 100 N. Harris,
during normal office hours Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00. Payments can be mailed
to City of Saline,100 N. Harris, Saline, MI 48176. Payments received after
the due date will be considered late and a penalty will be applied. Don't
want to depend on the mail service? Drop your payment in the drop box
located uptown in parking lot #3, behind Comerica Bank. Payments are picked
up daily. Payments made after 4:00 p.m. are considered as next business day
transactions.
The City of Saline Treasurer collects taxes for all real and personal property located in the City of Saline. This tax is based on the taxable value as explained in Understanding Assessed, State Equalized Value, Capped Value Taxable Value and Your Tax Bill.
Property Valuation Notices are mailed the first of March and will provide dates and information regarding the appeal process. The City of Saline Assessing personnel are available daily Monday through Friday, from 8:30 to 5:00. Citizens are encouraged to review the property file and ask any questions regarding the valuation process.
PROPERTY TAX ASSISTANCE
Hardship Exemption Guidelines for those homeowners who wish to apply for property tax relief under section 211.7u(1) of the Michigan General Property Tax Act. This Exemption is a method to provide relief to those homeowners, who, in the judgment of the Board of Review, are unable to fully pay their property taxes due to their financial status. In order to qualify for a Hardship Exemption a homeowner must have a principal Residence Exemption and will be required to provide financial information for the household. Residents who have questions about this program or have concerns about the possible loss of their home due to foreclosure should call the assessor’s office at the numbers listed below.
Those individuals that had a gross household income for the preceding year of $40,000 or less may qualify for a tax deferment of taxes without penalty or interest.
Qualifications:
□ 62 years of age or older, including the unmarried surviving spouse of a
person who was 62 years of age or older at the time of death.
□ Paraplegic or Quadriplegic
□ Eligible Serviceperson, Eligible Veteran, Eligible Widow or Widower
□ Blind
□ Totally and Permanently Disabled
Forms must be filed annually with the City of Saline Treasurer before September 14.
Tax Collections
Summer taxes for the City of Saline are mailed on July 1st and include taxes for the following taxing authorities:
· Washtenaw County
· Saline Schools
· Washtenaw Community College
· Washtenaw Intermediate Schools
· Saline School Recreation C.A.R.E.S
· State Education
· City of Saline
The summer bill is normally about 94% of the annual tax. The bills are mailed to all property owners and copies are sent to mortgage companies at their request. The summer bill is payable without penalty until September 1st.
Winter taxes for the City of Saline are mailed on December 1st and include taxes for the following taxing authorities:
· Saline District Library
· Voted County Mileage Parks
· EECS
· Huron Clinton Metro Authority
The winter bill is mailed on December 1st to all property owners and copies are sent to mortgage companies at their request. The winter bill is payable without penalty until February 14th.
Real property taxes are payable at the City of Saline Treasurers office until March 1st annually. After March 1st the real tax roll is submitted to the Washtenaw County Treasurer for collection and foreclosure proceedings.

Property tax foreclosures hit record high in Washtenaw County
Headlines don’t lie, and Saline is not exempt from experiencing record numbers of foreclosures. The City of Saline collects property taxes on real property from July until March each year. On March first by state law the city treasurer must submit all unpaid real taxes over to the County treasurer for collection and foreclosure proceedings.
